    “If you’re not doing these three things for employee development, nothing else really matters.” So stated Brent Mullins, acting VP of HR at Philips Medical Systems during a conversation about how mature organizations can continue to engage and develop their employees.

    Brent described to me the innovative leadership development programs they’ve conducted over the years, each focused on increasing the contributions that employees make in specific career stages. These programs have made a profound effect not only on the performance of individuals, but also on overall organizational performance.

    • Have clearly-defined standards of behaviors that are identified prior to training (via an effective assessment process) paired with training that addresses specific skills against that standard.
